Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh, who was fasting in front of the Hazratganj Gandhi statue in Lucknow, was arrested by the police at night. He has been admitted to the civil hospital. He has been dripped.

It is learnt that Gauriganj MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh has resigned from the Assembly after he was upset over the non-construction of two roads in his locality. After which he staged a strike for 2 days and then started a no food protest.

According to the information received, his condition became critical on Friday evening. Police reached the spot around 10.00 pm and asked them to end the fast. But the MLAs were adamant. Police forcibly picked him up at around 1.00 pm and have been admitted to the civil hospital. He refused to get a drip installed in the hospital.  It is alleged that he was forcibly dripped.
