Lunar Eclipse 2021:  The world is set to witness a rare super flower blood moon in the eastern sky on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. So let us aware of what does this mean? And will the super blood moon be visible in India? Here are the key things you need to know:-

This Eclipse will be visible mostly in Eastern Asia, the Pacific Ocean, parts of North and South America, and Australia, much of North America, South America, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean and Antarctica on May 26.

In India, it is said, the moon will be below the eastern horizon during the total Lunar Eclipse, however, the people will not be able to view the Blood Moon. Those people living in Eastern India are able to see the last part of the Lunar Eclipse just before sunrise because it will occur close to the eastern horizon.

It is to be learnt the moon on its journey around the earth and will be passing through the Earth’s shadow, while it gets eclipsed. The partial eclipse of the moon will start around 3:15 pm and end at 6:22 pm in Kolkata.  Reportedly, the Super Moon will last only for 14 minutes and 30 seconds. First, the moon enters the outer shadow of the earth (penumbra) and when it enters the inner shadow it appears to be red. In India, this Super Moon will be visible in the penumbra phase only.

A lunar eclipse takes place when the Earth’s shadow covers all or part of the Moon. This can only happen during a full moon. Like the Earth, half of the Moon is illuminated by the sun at any one time. A full moon happens when the Moon and the Sun are on opposite sides of the Earth. This allows you to see the entire lit-up side, which looks like a round disc in the night sky.
