New Delhi: The Modi government is constantly working towards making India self-reliant. The central government is constantly focusing on strengthening the manufacturing sector to promote industries in India and create new employment opportunities. Now the report is coming out that Sweden's well-known Carl-Gustaf rifle will also be made in India.

Swedish defense major Saab plans to set up a Karl-Gustaf rifle factory in India. This will help in the production of a multi-role weapon system for the Indian Armed Forces. SAAB India Technologies, the Indian arm of the Swedish company, will set up the factory under the 'Make in India' initiative. The Karl-Gustaf rifle defense system to be built here will be completely manufactured in India. It will be prepared keeping in mind the requirements of the Indian Army. Mats Palmberg, head and managing director of SAAB India Technologies, says that the company will also partner with small suppliers in India for the production of these rifles.

What is Carl Gustaf M4? 

"Karl-Gustaf is a tried-and-tested weapon system that has been used by the military for decades. Creating an in-country manufacturing facility for the M4 variant is in line with Saab's commitment to the Make in India program. Additional Military Affairs Specialist Lt Gen. For the Karl-Gustaf M4 weapon, the Saab FFV India will use state-of-the-art technologies, such as the most recent technology to be seen and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques.

The Swedish company announced that it would partner with Munitions India Limited and Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited, two of the seven companies formed from the former Ordnance Factory Board, to produce Carl-Gustaf arms and ammunition in the first M3 variant. Cooperation will continue.
