Bhopal: A sensational case has been reported from Rehti police station in Sihor district of Madhya Pradesh. While an elderly man stabbed his wife with an axe and later tried to commit suicide by eating poisonous substances, police rushed to the spot and transported the elderly to the hospital in critical condition. Police have started the investigation of the case by sending the body of the deceased woman for postmortem.

According to the Rehti police station, 68-year-old Chan Singh Verma of village Dhaba was working in the field enclosure with his 65-year-old wife Mankunar Bai. In the meantime, when he had a quarrel over something, Chan Singh stabbed Mankunar Bai with an axe, killing her on the spot.  After the wife was murdered, Chan Singh tried to commit suicide by consuming poisonous substances. Police rushed to the spot on the information of villagers and transported Chan Singh to the Community Health Centre in Rehti in critical condition. The elderly was referred to Hoshangabad after first aid.

In the case, police said, the woman's body has been shifted to a hospital for postmortem. Police says that a quarrel took place between the husband and wife, which led to the murder and the accused attempted suicide. The police are claiming that the case will be resolved soon.
