Amidst the crisis of coronavirus and natural storm, this news related to Madhya Pradesh has made everyone proud. Madhya Pradesh government has got first place in the country by purchasing 1 crore 28 lakh 69 thousand 553 MT wheat, leaving Punjab behind. This time Punjab is in the second place. 3,86,54,000 MT of wheat has been procured throughout the country. This is the first time that Madhya Pradesh has broken the 'all-time record' of Punjab. This time Punjab has purchased only 1 crore 27 lakh 67 thousand 473 metric tonnes of wheat.

All this was possible due to Shivshekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies of the state. His hard work and his dedication and effective strategy have brought Madhya Pradesh to this place. Shivshekhar Shukla works day and night and due to his hard work and efficiency helped Madhya Pradesh achieve this record, which seemed impossible during corona crisis. Shivshekhar Shukla praised by Madhya Pradesh for helping the state become number one in wheat procurement. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself appreciated him and along with him, CM Chouhan also felicitated the entire team of Farmers and Food, Civil Supplies Department.

This time, Chief Minister reviewed the wheat procurement daily after holding 75 consecutive meetings from 23 March and now the results are here. Farmers of Madhya Pradesh have proved to be the winners in the procurement work, leaving behind the blockade of lockdown and corona virus. Due to the lockdown, it was impossible to achieve this, but Shivshekhar Shukla set an example in front of everyone. 33 percent of the total wheat procurement in all states of the country has been done in Madhya Pradesh. The purchase of wheat in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 74 percent as compared to last year.

Last year, 73.69 lakh wheat procurement was done in Madhya Pradesh. Storage and transportation of wheat was not less than any challenge for Principal Secretary Food, Civil Supplies Shivshekhar Shukla but he faced this challenge firmly and the result is in front of us today. So far, 118 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been stored, which is about 93 percent of the purchase. This success has made everyone happy amid the battle with Corona. This time the procurement was started from 15 April instead of 25 March. Due to the odd situations, the government was sure that this time farmers will participate in a large amount, but the work has to be done before monsoon hits MP.

Seeing all this, the government has already started the initiatives so that no one gets in trouble. Last year 2545 centres were acquired but this year 4529 centres were opened. This year, transporting large quantities was also a challenge that was faced and wheat was stored. Normally 10 lakh farmers in the state sell wheat to the government every year, but this year the number has increased by about 60 percent.

Not only this, but the system of sending SMS to farmers by following physical distance and following all the rules was also ensured. So that the farmers who received the SMS will reach the procurement centre. It seems as if Chief Secretary Shivshekhar Shukla had already planned to top the procurement this year. This time he has already deposited Rs 20,500 crore in the accounts of 16 lakh farmers, of which about 10 lakh are small and marginal farmers. He made Madhya Pradesh proud with his hard work.
