Madhya Pradesh: Betul police car accident police sub-inspector died, three policemen injured

Betul: A police car carrying two accused of theft from Raipur in Chhattisgarh to Betul in Madhya Pradesh rammed into a truck parked on Bhopal-Nagpur National Highway in the early hours of Tuesday, killing one sub-inspector of police on the spot and seriously injuring three other policemen. However, both the accused were not injured in the accident while the driver of the car fled after the accident.

Betul district SP Simala Prasad said the incident took place around 2.30 am on Tuesday at Barchicholi in Pandhurna in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. He said sub-inspector-in-charge of Padhar chowki in Betul district Vinod Shankar Yadav along with assistant sub-inspector Dilip Tandekar, custodian Naveen Raghuvanshi and another custodian had gone to Raipur (Chhattisgarh) to investigate the theft case. The team was in Raipur for two days. From there, two accused were taken into custody and all of them were coming to Betul by car.

Prasad said the outpost in-charge Yadav was sitting next to the car driver and the other three policemen were sitting in the middle seat and the two accused were sitting at the back of the car. He said Yadav died on the spot while the other three policemen were seriously injured and have been taken to Nagpur for better treatment after giving first aid.
