The incident took place in the Chola area of the Hanumanganj police station area. The incident came to light when in the morning, Shiva devotees reached the temple to offer prayers, after which it spread like fire in the entire area. While there is anger among the people after the incident, the police who reached the spot as soon as they received information about the Shivling being broken, registered a case and started an investigation.

According to information, there is a temple of Pipaleshwar Mahadev at Veer Savarkar Chowk on Chola Road near Hanumanganj police station in Bhopal. According to another report, an eyewitness in the case says, "When I was going for a walk in the morning, I saw a broken Shivling in the Shiva temple. When I approached, I saw that the Shivling was fractured and there was a stone lying next to it. I immediately informed the people of the area and then told the police. As soon as people came to know about this, they all gathered here and there was outrage in the area since the incident.''

As soon as the news of the breaking of the Shivling in the Shiva temple came to the Hindu organizations, the office bearers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, etc., reached the temple and sat in front of the temple and shouted slogans. They demanded that the unidentified miscreants be arrested at the earliest. At the same time, angry people also blocked the road for some time.
