Bhopal: Government offices in Madhya Pradesh will function only 5 days a week for the next 3 months. The decision was taken by the Shivraj government in the state amid fears of a third wave of the corona. The state government has said that all government offices in the state will function for only five days for the next three months. The offices will open from 10 am to 6 pm from Monday to Friday. They will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.

In a revised order issued on Thursday, the General Administration Department said that all government offices will be functioning 5 days a week by October 31. The government had issued an order on April 8 after the second wave of corona said government offices would open 5 days a week. The order will remain in force till July 31. Now, the government has issued a new order and extended it till October 31. Night curfew continues in the state even after the second wave of corona slowed down.

In fact, three months ago, the worsening of the situation in Madhya Pradesh from corona had started affecting the government machinery. The state government had then restricted the presence of employees in government offices. As per the order issued by the Department of General Administration on 8th April, the presence of 3rd and 4th class employees in the Ministry and State level offices was made 25% rotational. Subsequently, the presence of 50 percent of employees was increased to 100 percent as the corona wave weakened.
