Gwalior: In-laws, including husband and children, have thrown a woman out of her house in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, for not converting after her marriage. Now the woman has sat on a dharna with her husband and children at Rani Samadhi site of Jhansi for justice. The victim said she had married a Muslim youth ten years ago. After which the woman had three children. For a long time, the in-laws had been pressurising her to convert. Failing to do so, the woman has now been thrown out of the house.
The case is of Saraswati Nagar in the university area of Gwalior. Victim Madhu Batham has reported that Bittu Khan fell in love about 10 years ago. The two had a love marriage. At that time Bittu Khan changed his religion and married Madhu to Hindu customs. Both of them had 3 children of marriage. Bittu Khan changed his religion, but he never asked Madhu to convert to Muslim religion. The victim said Bittu's family had been finding it difficult for them not to convert to Muslim religion from the very beginning. They constantly pressured the woman to convert. The victim said Bittu's elder brother, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law used to insist on her converting to Islam. To do so, she was threatened with abuse, assault, and rape from the very beginning.
When the victim complained to the police about the case, they did not take any action. Even after the complaint, Bittu's relatives threatened to kill the woman and her children. Then, when the police left the victim home, Bittu's family members hurled abuses and threats in front of the police. Even then no action was taken against the accused. Finally, fed up, the woman sat on a dharna with her husband and children at Rani Laxmi Bai Samadhi site.
