Mahendra Mishra, 45-year-old police station officer in Mhowanj of Rewa district, has been sent to judicial custody today for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl. Additional Superintendent of Mounganj Shiv Kumar Singh said that In the matter of raping a 15-year-old girl by raping a girl, sub-inspector Mahendra Misra, in charge of Mounganj police station was arrested on Monday night under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Pocso Act. On Tuesday, he was presented in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Manish Patidar of Mounganj, from where he was sent to jail in judicial custody.

Mounganj is about 60 km away from Rewa district headquarters and Mishra is already married. This case came to light when a 15-year-old girl reached the Mounganj Police Station on Monday evening. She narrated the incident to the police. The girl told that Mishra allegedly took her to a private lodge on July 26 and raped her for five days. Mishra was staying here since posting in Mounganj. 

Mishra's met the girl three months ago during posting in Rewa Kotwali. Mishra came in contact with the family during the interrogation of the girl's father in a case of suicidal tenderness. Singh said that Girl alleged that Mishra on 26 July raped her. He promised that when she will turn into an adult, he will marry her. Mishra joined the police force after retirement from the army in 2014.
