Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh, the heart of the country, was established on this day in 1956. The State was reconstituted by connecting Madhya Pradesh, Old Madhya Pradesh, Vindhya Pradesh and Bhopal, which was also known as Central India before the reorganisation.

Chhattisgarh:- It established as Chhattisgarh on 1st November 2000. "Chhattisgarh" is not an ancient name, the name started in vogue during the Maratha period during the 18th century. At that time, it contained 36 forts and the people here spoke Chhattisgarh and Gond languages. Due to which the demand for making Chhattisgarh a separate State arose from the beginning and it was approved on 1st November 2000.

Punjab and Haryana:- Punjab, historically the gateway to the Indian subcontinent, was organized as a big state after independence, a decision was being taken on the reorganization of states, at that time part of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh (presently) and Union Territory of Chandigarh was involved. According to the Punjab Reorganization Bill, 1966, a new state came into existence as a 'Haryana' state on November 1, 1966. Now Punjabi-speaking Sikhs became part of Punjab and Hindi-speaking Hindus became part of Haryana, while the hill-spoken part was included in Himachal Pradesh.  When both Punjab and Haryana started claiming Chandigarh, the Central Government declared it a Union Territory.

Karnataka: When Andhra Pradesh was formed in 1953 after the independence of the country, many districts of Madras were merged with Mysore. This led to violence among the people and their agitation turned into a revolt. Finally, the Government approved the State of Mysore on 1 November 1956 on linguistic grounds and all Kannada speaking areas were included in the same State.  In 1973, it was renamed the State of Mysore of Karnataka.

Kerala: At the time of independence, Kerala had two provincial states - the Travan Core State and the Kochi Empire. In 1949, they were merged to form a state called Thiru-Kochi. After independence, the present State of Kerala has been created under the State Reorganization Act, 1956 by connecting Malabar District, Thiru-Kochi State and Kasargod Taluka and South Kanara in the State of Madras. The residents of Kerala celebrate 1st November today, living with their folk culture, traditional life and rich culture and heritage.
