BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh is getting ready to host the Global Investor Summit (GIS) in Bhopal on February 24 and 25. Preparations are in full swing for the big event.
The state Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is becoming a major hub for startups, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for industrial growth and job creation. The government is focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities to support young business minds.
Madhya Pradesh wanted to make a center for startups and innovation. Our goal is to provide young entrepreneurs with a supportive environment and resources to turn their ideas into successful businesses. Investors and business leaders from different countries will attend, helping local startups connect with global technologies and innovations," said CM Yadav.
He also said that startups will play a key role in boosting the state’s economy and creating jobs for young people.
"We are offering financial support, strong policies, and modern infrastructure to help startups grow. Our government is taking solid steps to encourage innovation and support young entrepreneurs," he added.
The 'MP Startup Policy and Implementation Scheme' is in place to provide financial aid, infrastructure, and policy support. Under this scheme, startups can receive up to 18% of their total investment, with a maximum limit of ₹18 lakh. This financial help is given in different stages, and up to four stages are eligible for assistance. The policy also includes incentives, training programs, and infrastructure support.
To further support startups, the government has removed experience and turnover requirements for government tenders. Startups are also exempt from earnest money deposits, license fees, and permit costs. Additionally, they get priority in government projects for two years.
CM Yadav highlighted that Madhya Pradesh has plenty of power, water, and natural resources, making it a great place for investors. Its strong connectivity with major industrial corridors ensures smooth transportation, helping businesses expand easily.
According to an official release, Madhya Pradesh is known as the ‘Heart of India’ and has more than 300 industrial parks. With a population of over 80 million, the state is rich in talent. It has 1,287 industrial training institutes, 1,373 colleges, and top institutions like IIT and IIM, producing thousands of skilled graduates every year. Special programs are also being conducted in schools and colleges to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
The CM shared that over 4,900 recognized startups are currently operating in Madhya Pradesh. Special industrial parks have been set up for IT, semiconductors, textiles, automobiles, and solar energy to create a startup-friendly environment.
The government aims to double the number of startups registered under ‘Startup India’ and boost agricultural and food startups by 200%. Currently, 72 incubators are functioning in the state, with a focus on expanding product-based startups. This strong government push is helping Madhya Pradesh move toward becoming one of India’s top startup hubs.
