MP: State government to continue diamond mine in Panna

Bhopal: The most salinest identity of diamonds in the country and the world is the Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. You may know that the NMDC mine located here is running closed these days because the state has not been allowed by the Wild Animal Board. The Wild Animal Board met under the chairmanship of Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan last Thursday.

The meeting has got permission to keep the mine running. Yes, the recent news that the forest animal board of the Panna-powered NMDC diamond mine was allowed to expire on December 31, after which the mine was closed. Thereafter, the matter was discussed with regional MP Vishnu Dutt, the mineral Minister, Brajendra Pratap Singh and Chief Minister Chouhan. During the discussion, Chief Minister Chouhan had said that the mine would not be closed.

Now, in the wildlife board meeting last Thursday, the board members held discussions to start diamond mining operations in 275 hectares of NMDC land at Gangau Sanctuary in Panna district. In the meantime, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "Ensure that diamond mining is not stopped, development and wild animal protection is also there. Balance is necessary in both.''
