Thalaivi: Madras High Court dismisses petition seeking ban of movie

Soon Kangana Ranunt's multilingual film Thalaivi is going to get released. The upcoming Indian biographical film is about the life of great politician J. Jayalalithaa. Recently, a plea has been filed in regards with banning of film in Madras High Court.

The plea seeking a ban on the upcoming starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role is filed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s niece J Deepa. She filed this plea on April 16 sought to stop the release of the film. The niece J Deepa stated that the film may depict the later Chief Minister’s life in a negative light which will hurt the feelings of many. Further, the plea read that the film would affect the family’s privacy and secrecy. She also alleged that a prior permission was not taken by the makers from Jaya’s family which is totally not acceptable. In response to the allegation, film’s director AL Vijay stated that the film is based on Tamil author Vaasanthi’s book. He then added saying that The movie is in the same name and bring a book it is accessible to the public. Also, the film does not show the late leader in any kind of negative light. 

 
Howsoever, the court has dismissed the case filed by J Deepa. The film was to hit the big screens on April 23 but now the makers announced that the release is postponed. Amid the surge in COVID cases it is expected that a new release date will be announced by the makers after situation comes under control.
