Chennai: The Madras High Court of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday banned the siege of Tamil Nadu assembly by Muslim organizations in protest against the 'Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Citizenship Register (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). In the Madras High Court, the judges M. Satyanarayana and R. Hemlata's bench has put an interim stay on March 11 on the siege of Tamil Nadu assembly by Muslim organizations.

The Madras High Court, while hearing a PIL has ordered the Tamil Nadu Police not to allow the protest till March 11. The next hearing of this case will be held on 12 March. The Tamil Nadu Islamic and Political Organization and its allied Muslim organizations had requested to siege the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on 19 February in protest against the 'CAA', NRC and NPR.

The Madras High Court has also clarified in its order that they are not taking any opinion on 'CAA', NRC and NPR. DMK party leader TKS Ilangovan said that the government wants to stop these movements against CAA-NRC in any way. They are also trying to exert all kinds of pressure by resorting to the court.
