In early trade the Benchmark indices opened highter. The  S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 27,234, up 117 points, while the broader Nifty50 was ruling at 8,432, up 41 points. 

The BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices mirrored the gains in headline indices and rose 0.4%, and 0.3%.

The NSE nifty has recaptured the 8,400 mark. 

The foreign institutional investors on monday sold equities worth Rs 289 crore and domestic institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 520 crore.

HCL Technologies reported a 7.8 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 2,070 crore.
