Thane: There are also reports of day-to-day fires amid the growing crisis of corona infection. Now, today, 2nd May, a house in the Thane district of Maharashtra caught fire due to gas leakage from a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder. Four members of a family and a mechanic suffered burns. As part of the information received in the matter, Santosh Kadam, Head, Regional Disaster Management Cell, Thane Municipal Corporation has informed about the same.

He said the fire broke out at around 9.30 pm on Saturday in a flat on the seventh floor of a building in Badlapur here. According to him, the family members noticed that gas was leaking from the upper part of the LPG cylinder pipe after which they called a mechanic to fix it. At the same time, the official also said in his statement that when the mechanic was fixing it, the gas leak caused a fire and exploded.

On further interrogation, he said that firemen rushed to the spot and doused the fire within an hour. He also said, "The couple, their two children and mechanic have suffered burns. They have been admitted to a local hospital.''
