Mumbai: A 15-year-old minor girl strangled her mother to death with a karate belt after an argument overstudies in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. Police say the girl first described it as a case of accidental death. However, the forensic investigation revealed that the woman had died of strangulation. According to reports, the case pertains to the Airoli area of Navi Mumbaion on July 30, 2021.

An official at Rabale police station said that the girl and her 40-year-old mother often had a dispute. The woman wanted her daughter to take a medical course, but she did not. Gradually, the dispute between the two was so heated that the girl even complained against her mother last month. The police then allegedly counselled the family members. But, on July 30, the girl said her mother had fallen and died. Police sent the body for forensic examination after receiving information where reports revealed that the death was due to strangulation.

According to media reports, the official said that when the girl was interrogated strictly by the police, she confessed that she was the one who strangled her mother with a karate belt after a fight over her studies. According to police, the girl has been taken into custody on Monday and a case has been registered against her under Section 302 of the IPC.
