Sangli: A sheep of 'Madgyal' breed, famous for its unique form and high-quality meat, was bid for Rs 70 lakh in Sangli district of Maharashtra, but the owner of the sheep refused to sell it and it cost 1.5 crores. Please tell that the sheep of the Madgyal breed is found in Jat tehsil of Sangli and their size is much larger than other breeds. Sheep breeder is in high demand for this breed with excellent quality.

Giving information, an official said that the state's Animal Husbandry Department is also constantly trying to increase the number of the Madgyal breed beyond its original location. The breed is named after Madgyal village of Jat tehsil. Babu Metkari, the sheep sheepman of the Atapadi tehsil of Sangli, has 200 sheep of his own and was taken aback when a buyer offered to buy the sheep for Rs 70 lakh at a fair but did not sell it even after the high price.

Metkari said that the real name of this sheep is Sarja. But people started comparing it to PM Narendra Modi, so its name became 'Modi'. People say that the way Modi won all the elections and became the PM, similarly in the fair or market, Sarja was there. Metkari said that Sarja is 'auspicious' for him and his family, hence he does not want to sell it.
