Mumbai: The date for assembly elections in Maharashtra has been announced. There is less than two weeks left in the election. In such a situation, the war between political parties is on the rise. State BJP President Chandrakant Patil has launched a major attack on NCP Chief Sharad Pawar. While campaigning for Shiv Sena candidate Prakash Abitkar in Radhangari tehsil of Kolhapur district, Patil said that he will be defeated in the upcoming elections that Pawar will have to retire. He said that Pawar's political and social position will end with the results.

He said, we will win by such a huge margin that after this there will be no other option but to retire for NCP chief. Earlier, Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde had said on Tuesday that the Congress and NCP will contest the elections together. Pawar left the Congress in 1999 to form the NCP after differences with Sonia. Before this assembly election, despite many crises on NCP, Sharad Pawar is throwing full power in the election campaign.

Pawar in his speeches is targeting the BJP fiercely. In fact, the ED has registered a case against Pawar and his nephew and former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam. The main contest in the 288-seat assembly is with the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and the opposition Congress and NCP. Voting is to be held in Maharashtra on 21 October.
