Mumbai: Assembly elections are due in three states including Maharashtra by the end of this year. All the political parties of the state are busy finalizing their preparations for this election. The main contest in the state is between the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and the opposition Congress-NCP alliance. Both the alliances are entangled over seat-sharing. The Congress and NCP have been in power in the state for fifteen years. The last election was fought separately by both parties.

For this purpose, a meeting between Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and NCP leader Sharad Pawar was held in Delhi on Tuesday. According to the news, Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi want to seal the seat-sharing last, so this meeting was held. It is likely that there will be more meetings for this next week. Significantly, this meeting was scheduled to be held in October, but it was decided on Tuesday itself.
