Baramati: A big dowry case has come to light from Sangvi village in Baramati, Maharashtra. In fact, the daughter-in-law has been killed for not giving dowry here. In the case, the woman's parents have reportedly alleged that the in-laws were often pressurising their daughter to bring dowry but when the dowry could not be found, her daughter was poisoned to death. Angry over the death of their daughter, the woman's parents have performed the last rites in the courtyard of their in-laws' house. A case has been registered at Baramati taluka police station in connection with the entire case. The girl is said to be Gitanjali who was 21 years old.

She was married to Abhishek Tawre of Sangvi village a year ago. It was only on May 24 that the two had their first wedding anniversary and a few days later the husband called Gitanjali's relatives and informed them that she had consumed poison. Gitanjali was reportedly immediately admitted to a private hospital in Baramati for treatment but was referred to a hospital in Pune. She died during treatment around 8 am last Thursday. Gitanjali's aunt Namida Yadav has now levelled serious allegations against the in-laws. She alleged taht the in-laws had demanded 51 carat gold ornaments from Gitanjali. But the demand could not be met because the situation was not good. A few days after the wedding, Gitanjali's mother-in-law and father-in-law started taunting to bring gold ornaments and clothes.

So far, 25 carat gold has been given to the in-laws, but still the in-laws have not been filled with their demands and they have been asking for gold. Not only that, he further said that Gitanjali was also repeatedly assaulted for bringing gold. They now alleged that Gitanjali was beaten up and poisoned by her husband, in-laws and sister-in-law after cutting a cake on the wedding anniversary day to celebrate the anniversary. Well, now the matter is under investigation.
