Mumbai: BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has lodged a complaint against the Maharashtra government and Mumbai Police at Navghar Mulund police station last Wednesday. According to information received, Kirit Somaiya has claimed that he was illegally detained by the police on his way to Kolhapur at Karad in the Satara district of Maharashtra. He has also claimed that Maharashtra rural development minister Hasan Musharraf was stopped in Karad by the district authorities citing law and order and security concerns following corruption allegations against him. He spoke to media persons after he lodged a complaint.

In the meantime, he said, "The Mumbai Police had wrongly detained me, the power was misused to prevent me from going to Kolhapur. I was stopped from leaving my residence on the day of Ganesh Visarjan. After that, I was stopped at the railway station also. I have given legal notice to Mulund and MRA Marg police stations under Sections 149, 340, 341, 342 of the Indian Penal Code. The Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra Government will have to apologise to me within 24 hours.''

What's the whole matter- Tell all of you that he was taken into custody at Karad railway station in Satara district of Maharashtra last Monday morning. In fact, he was expected to go to Kohlapur on September 20 and was going there by car. However, this could not happen as Mumbai police had stopped him from boarding the car to Kolhapur and there was a scuffle with him. Now Somaiya said, 'Based on my complaint, an inquiry has also started. The ED has asked me for additional information and I will give them that information.'
