Boat sinks in the river in Wardha, 11 drowned, 3 bodies recovered so far

Mumbai: A major accident has been reported in Wardha district of Maharashtra. The accident occurred when a boat capsized in wardha river. Eleven people are feared drowned in the accident. The incident took place near Jhunj village under Varud taluka of Benoda police station area. Nothing is known how the boat sank.

According to initial information, rivers have been overflowing due to heavy rains in Wardha district for the past eight days. The boat met with an accident while moving from one bank of the river to the other. It is feared that the accident may have occurred due to the overcapacity of people in the boat. More than 30 people were on board this boat. The boat sank in the middle of the river. Meanwhile, local villagers immediately started relief work and evacuated some people safely. Three bodies have been recovered so far and the search is on for eight others.

At present, relief and rescue operations are on at the spot and local police and rescue teams have been informed. Arrangements are also being made to take the injured to the hospital.
