Maharashtra: Floodwaters entered Sangli jail, inmate escaped

Mumbai: Many areas of Maharashtra are reeling under floods these days. The people there are upset. The NDRF team is continuously engaged in relief and rescue operations. Flood water has also entered the Sangli jail. A total of 360 inmates were harassed by the floodwaters entering the prison. The jail was flooded with water from four to five feet.

The prison administration then called the boat to rescue the prisoners and started the process of taking them to a safe place. Sangli Jail and its surrounding Stokiaran have been flooded by 4 to 5 feet. A total of 360 prisoners were detained here. The boat was called from the district administration to take them to a safer place. In the meantime, two prisoners took advantage of the opportunity to try to escape.

One of the inmates who tried to escape in order to take them to a safe place was then apprehended immediately by the prison administration, but the second managed to escape immediately. The escaped prisoner was hiding somewhere around. Police and prison administration began to search for the prisoner amid waist-deep water in the surrounding areas. Another prisoner was also caught after about half an hour of hard work.
