Mumbai: The Thackeray government of Maharashtra has requested the removal of the stay imposed by the apex court in the case of Shivaji memorial and Shivaji statue built in Mumbai. The court has agreed to hear the case in 2 weeks. Let us tell you that some environment-loving organizations had approached the apex court against the 'Shivaji memorial' being built on the Arabian Sea coast of Mumbai. Hearing on this same petition, the Supreme Court had stayed.

It is noteworthy that the top court had ordered to stop the ambitious project 'Shivaji Smarak' of Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra at the beginning of last year. According to the information, the NGO Goenka Conservation Action Trust had approached the apex court and requested to stop the project.

This institution had also gone to the Bombay High Court before the Supreme Court of the country, but the petition was rejected by the Bombay High Court. After which this institution decided to go to the top court. The apex court, in its order, said that the work of 'Shivaji memorial' should be postponed till the hearing of the case is complete.
