Mumbai: The Bombay High Court was told last Monday that the Maharashtra government has extended the stay on arrest of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh under the SC-ST (Prevention of Harassment) Act till June 22. In fact, defending the state government, senior advocate Darius Khambata told the high court that "The period of preventive action against senior IPS officer Parambir Singh has been extended till June 22".

After hearing this, a bench of Justices PB Varale and SP Tawde adjourned the matter till June 22. Parambir Singh is said to have filed a petition in the high court seeking quashing of the case registered against him by thane police under the SC-ST Act. The case was registered by Inspector BR Ghadge of Akola in April this year. Let us tell you that Ghadge has accused Parambir Singh of implicating him in a conspiracy recovery case along with some people. On the other hand, Parambir has also challenged the inquiry initiated by the state government against him.

In another case, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Eknath Shinde has been arrested for posting objectionable posts on internet media. He is said to be from Thane. A police officer in the case said last Monday. He said the posts on internet media could have created enmity between the two communities. The accused in the case has been arrested on Sunday. In fact, he had posted objectionable content on the Minister's Facebook page.
