Mumbai: The central government has completely banned onion exports and protested in Maharashtra over the same decision last Wednesday. In fact, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also asked the centre to write a letter to remove the ban on exports. It says, "after the state ministers expressed anguish over the central government's ban on onion exports, Chief Minister Thackeray asked the cabinet to write a letter to the central government in its meeting. The centre's decision has been described by Ajit Pawar as a ' great s curse ' against the anti-farmer and the pressure on them. During a meeting held at NCP headquarters, Ajit Pawar said, "The central government has banned the export of onion at a time when farmers were getting good prices. It is totally wrong. It is clear that the central government is adopting anti-farmer attitude. '

In addition, he also said, "onion growers are already reeling under the killing of Covid-19 and now the central government has made a great point of banning onion exports and pressurizing them. Meanwhile, state Congress president and Maharashtra Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat also spoke. He said, "onion prices have fallen due to ban on exports. In addition, he also said that the price of onion has fallen from 700 to Rs 800 per quintal by the central government's decision. Farmers in the state are facing huge problems due to floods and cyclones. The state Government is doing as much help as they can. But the central government is not cooperating. Let us also tell all of you that Maharashtra is a major producing state of onion. Now, the central government's decision may affect the farmers on a large scale.
