Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Uddhav Thackeray government having clash nowadays over OBC reservation. Governor Koshyari has written a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray after meeting BJP leaders asking him to extend the period of the upcoming Monsoon session of the state legislature including OBC reservation case and appoint the assembly speaker.

Governor Koshyari has written to CM Thackeray at a time when BJP in Maharashtra has been continuously have a front against the Uddhav government over the issue of restoration of OBC reservation in the local body. In his letter dated June 24, Governor Koshyari has told CM Uddhav Thackeray that local body elections should also not be held due to pendency of OBC reservation case.

In fact, after the Supreme court recently cancelled OBC reservation in local bodies in Maharashtra, the State Election Commission (SEC) had recently announced bye-elections to five Zilla Parishads and 33 Panchayat Samitis for seats that had been vacated and converted into general category. Since then, the OBC reservation case in Maharashtra has been heated up and the BJP has taken an aggressive stand on the rights of the backward classes.
