Maharashtra govt to guarantee online education for specially-abled students

The Bombay High Court guarantees online education for specially-abled students. The Bombay HC has stated that it was the duty of the Maharashtra government to ensure that special online education is being provided to specially-abled students in the state during the closure of schools amid the ongoing pandemic.

The court moreover instructed the state government of Maharashtra to use Doordarshan to telecast educational programs and impart knowledge to specially-abled students during the period of closure of schools in the state. Also. an NGO has filed public interest litigation regarding the issue, raising concerns over problems being faced by students with disabilities between such deadly infectious coronavirus. The PIL was then heard by a division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G S Kulkarni. 

Local govt channels to be used for education

The advocate recommended the use of local government channels and radio can be used by the government to impart education for students with special needs, as a solution to this problem, since the schools in the state are closed. The government is asked to submit a report by January 18.

The schools and colleges in Maharashtra have been shut down for almost nine months due to the ongoing epidemic. All classes are currently being conducted online by schools, and students are struggling to cope with the academic.
