Mumbai: Rain creates havoc in Maharashtra. In fact, the rains flooded some parts of the place, and at some places, heavy rains destroyed people's homes. Now, recently, PWD Minister Ashok Chavan has reported that the roads in the affected districts have suffered a loss of about Rs. 1800 crores. "Last week's torrential rains, floods, and landslides have caused a loss of Rs 700 crores to road infrastructure in the coastal Konkan region alone," he said in his statement.

Apart from Konkan, a large part of western Maharashtra was devastated by floods and rains. At the same time, he added, "As per preliminary information, 290 roads were closed for traffic during the rain outbreak and vehicular movement on 469 motorways was affected. 140 bridges have also been damaged.'' He also said, "He has spoken to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari about the damage caused to the road structure in the state.''

Let us also tell you all that due to incessant rains in many parts of Maharashtra, at least 213 people died and thousands of people were evacuated due to floods and landslides. In fact, Raigad, Kolhapur, and Sangli are among the worst affected districts. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had visited Kolhapur district to take stock of the damage caused by the torrential rains and subsequent floods and review the current situation.
