Mumbai: One videos are going viral on social media showing a mob of 100 to 150 people running behind a police officer and beating him with bricks at Sangamner in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. These police officers were trying to enforce the lockdown. But the unruly mob attacked the police. Two policemen were injured in the stone pelting incident.

In one video, the mob is seen chasing a police officer and the police running away to save his life. According to reports, the mob not only chased the policemen and threw bricks but also ransacked two police vehicles and a police post set up under a tree in the area. According to local media, the violence erupted on Thursday when a police team stopped some youths roaming unnecessarily at Tinbatti Chowk in Delhi Naka area of Sangamner. Most of the crowd was neither wearing masks nor following social distensing.

When the policemen asked the youths to go home, they started arguing. Meanwhile, hundreds of people took to the streets. They attacked the policemen. The situation has become tense and rapid action force personnel have been deployed in the area. State that Maharashtra is the most affected state with corona virus infection. According to a complaint lodged by police officer Salman Sheikh, a case has been registered against the owner of Zubair Hotel and all its employees Nisar Khichdiwala, Zakir Khan, Mohammad Haneef Rashid Sheikh and Arbaaz Sheikh along with several unidentified assailants in the case.
