Mumbai: Several ministers of Maharashtra's Uddhav Thackeray government have come out in defense after the Income Tax Department's raid on Bollywood's famous film director Anurag Kashyap and Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu. In the Thackeray government, the NCP and Congress ministers have called the Income Tax Department's raid a retaliatory act and said that the central institutions will take action against whatever they speak against the Modi government at the center.

Congress leader and cabinet minister Ashok Chavan has termed the income tax raid against Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu as a retaliatory act of the Modi government. NCP leader and Maharashtra cabinet minister Jitendra Awhad while answering the income tax raid on persons other than Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu said that this raid is being done only on those who questioned the policies of the central government. He told that the people who are saving democracy, it is being raided by the same people. Jitendra Awhad said that the raid is only an excuse for tax evasion.
