Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Gulabrao Patil had made a controversial statement in the past. In fact, he had compared the roads of his assembly constituency Jalgaon district to actress Hema Malini's cheek and this led to controversy. The minister has now apologized for his statement after the state commission for women took a tough stand. The Minister made the alleged remarks while addressing an election meeting during the Bodhwad Nagar Panchayat elections in the district recently.

During his speech, he had asked his opponents to visit his assembly constituency and see good quality roads there. Indirectly targeting former BJP leader Eknath Khadse, who was an MLA from Jalgaon seat for many years, state water supply minister Patil had said, "Those who were MLAs for 30 years should come to my assembly constituency and look at the roads. If they are not like Hema Malini's cheeks, I will resign. His statement was raised by State Commission for Women Chairperson Rupali Chakankar.

He had warned of legal action against Minister Patil for not apologizing for his remarks after taking cognizance of his remarks.
