In Maharashtra Mob attacks Sunday Mass in Kolhapur with hockey sticks, stones and bottles, 12 hurt

Kolhapur: In a dreadful incident, a crowd had attacked a Sunday Mass in a village in Maharashtra's Kolhapur which took place on December 23, just three days before Christmas.

A mass of people, including women, was attending a congregational prayer in a rented room at Kowad in Chandgad taluka when it came under attack by 10-15 unknown men and at least 12 people were left injured and four of them had received serious head injuries.

As per the Maharashtra Police stated  the gang attacked the victims with bottles, stones, hockey sticks, and choppers. Besides this running towards Belagavi, the accused attacked many people in Dindalkop and Talguli villages.

Police stated the faces of the attackers were worn mask which is making hard to recognize them. A investigation is on. The Maharashtra Police is studying the modus operandi and checking the CCTV clips . Reports suggested that four teams have been formed to grab the attackers.

The attackers have also been booked under Sections 295 (injuring or ruin place of worship with intent to slur the religion of any class), 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (willingly causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 323 (punishment for willingly causing hurt), and 427 (harm causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the IPC.
