Mumbai: Several Shiv Sena and NCP MPs met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman last Monday. During the meeting, it was requested to expedite the settlement of insurance claims in flood-affected areas of Maharashtra. More than 20 MPs from Maharashtra have reportedly met the Finance Minister. The list includes Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai, Supriya Sule, Arvind Samant, Rahul Shewale, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Pratap Rao Jadhav, and Sunil Tatkare. Priyanka Chaturvedi has also recently made a statement on the same as per the information received.
"Maharashtra has faced severe flood situation which has caused loss of life and property.'' At the same time, she also said, "During our meeting with the Finance Minister, we carried forward our Chief Minister's request for speedy settlement of insurance claims.'' On the other hand, the delegation said, "During the meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, various insurance companies have expressed their willingness to pay 50 percent insurance amount on the basis of Panchnama or assessment of revenue authority.''
Se also recalled that "the same was done during the floods of Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala in the past. The remaining sum assured can be paid after all the documents are verified.''
