The Maharashtra government has told in a new order that no more than 50 persons are allowed in marriages. Only 20 persons are approved for funerals. Section-144 has been implemented to avoid crowding. These restrictions will be specifically applicable from midnight of December 31 and will continue till further orders. Earlier, the Maharashtra government had imposed Section-144 in Mumbai till 7 January due to the increasing cases of the corona. Apart from this, the police had also banned New Year celebrations and parties in restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, resorts and clubs.

Balasaheb Thorat is the fourth minister of Maharashtra to be positive from Corona in recent times. Meanwhile, a person who returned from abroad has died in Maharashtra, which some people are also linking to Omicron, but the cause of death is said to be a heart attack. The state government did not consider the cause of death to be corona, but the report of the National Institute of Virology came after his death.
