NCB officer took out woman's underwear and sniffed, arrested by RPF

Mumbai: Railway Police in Maharashtra has arrested an officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The officer was accused of tampering in moving train by a woman. The train in which a case has been registered for molestation runs between Hyderabad and Pune. A case under Section 354 of the IPC has been registered against the accused after his arrest. The arrested accused has been identified as Dinesh Chavan. Dinesh Chavan is a Superintendent of Police (SP) rank officer in NCB. The accused officer has been arrested by Parli railway police. Parli railway station falls under the Aurangabad railway unit.

Aurangabad SP (GRP), M Patil said Dinesh Chauhan is accused of touching the woman incorrectly on the train. He take out undergarment from the woman's bag and placed it on his chest after sniffing it. Police said a case has been registered under Section 354 (A) sexual harassment and section 509 (attempt to defile a woman) of IPC in the case. Police said further investigation is on in the case.

According to officials, Dinesh Chavan was coming towards Pune from Hyderabad. He had gone to attend the ongoing hearing in a Hyderabad court case and was returning to Pune. A 25-year-old woman was also travelling in the compartment where he was travelling. The woman said the NCB officer tried to touch her incorrectly. The woman said she was disturbed by the actions of the NCB officer and started shouting. After which several passengers rushed to the spot. It was then that the matter calmed down. On the other hand, after Dinesh's arrest, a senior official posted in Mumbai NCB confirmed that the accused is an NCB officer but was on leave most of the time due to mental distress for the last eight months and is not part of any operation at present.
