Mumbai: Cases of delta plus variant of corona have started coming to light in Maharashtra and now the first case of death due to this variant has come to light in the meantime. In fact, an 80-year-old woman has died of this infection in Ratnagiri. Last Friday, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has indicated a strict ban on the implementation of Level-3 norms across Maharashtra. In fact, the FDA Minister, Dr. Rajendra Shingne says, ''A possible third wave could lead to 50 lakh infection cases, out of which about 8 lakh will be active cases that will need to be hospitalized. At the same time, he has also expressed apprehension that up to 10 percent of infected (5 lakh) children could be there.''
He also urged the people to follow all covid protocols. So far, the immunization mark has crossed the 30 million mark in the State, and it is the highest in India, but in the midst of the possibility of a third wave, the state is not trying to hesitate. Now, under the Unlock-3 norms in Maharashtra, all shops will be closed by 4 pm. Moreover, malls and theatres will remain closed and unnecessary movement of people will be strictly prohibited.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope says, "An 80-year-old patient from Ratnagiri has died due to delta plus variant of covid infection. At present, it has about 21 cases in the State. Out of these, Ratnagiri has the highest number of (9), followed by Jalgaon (7), Mumbai (2), and one in Thane, Palghar, and Sindhudurg districts. A high alert has been sounded in these districts as well as in the rest of the state.''
