Mumbai: The Home Ministry of Maharashtra Government has recently taken a major decision. An official letter has been issued to end the 'General Consent' agreement with the Central Government under this decision. It is being told that after the completion of this agreement by the Maharashtra government, now the Central Bureau of Investigation, ie CBI, will have to take the permission of the Home Department of Maharashtra to investigate any case in Maharashtra. Earlier, the CBI was given the right to come to Maharashtra and investigate the case without permission but now it will not happen.
Recently Kailash Gaikwad, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, while issuing an order under the Maharashtra Government Gazette, wrote, "Using the authority given in accordance with Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Act, 1946, without the permission of Ministry of Home Affairs, Maharashtra is withdrawing consent to exercise the right to come to the jurisdiction of the state." The issue of confrontation was prominent in the state government investigation and CBI investigation. Earlier, the suicide case of Sushant Singh Rajput was increasingly in the discussions.
Thereafter, the case of investigation of TRP scam came out. Both these cases were dragging the Maharashtra government and the CBI. Only after seeing this, an official letter to end the 'General Consent' agreement was issued. However, BJP leader Atul Bhatkhalkar has given his reaction to the government's decision. He said that the government ended the General Consent without giving any explanation under which the CBI could come to Maharashtra and investigate without the permission of the state government. Now the state government should come forward and tell the public why it has ended the common consent?
