Til - It is said that Sesamum or anything made from it should not be offered to Lord Shiva because it is said to have originated from the scum of Lord Vishnu.
Turmeric - It is said that turmeric is related to Lord Vishnu and good luck, therefore it does not climb to Lord Shiv.
Anointment with boiled milk - It is said that the consecration of Shivling should not be done with boiled milk because the consecration of Shivling is always done with cold water and raw milk.
Coconut water - It is said that you can offer coconut to Bhole but not coconut water.
Ketki flower - It is said that Bholenath should never offer Ketki flower.
Broken Rice - It says that Lord Shiva should offer whole rice, not broken.
Shankha - It is said that Lord Shiva killed a demon named Shankhchud and Shankh is considered to be the symbol of the same demon, therefore, it is not played in the worship of Shiva.
