Mahavir Jayanti is being celebrated all over the country today. This day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir. According to the Hindu Panchang, Mahavir Swami was born on the 13th day of Chaitra month. He was born in the royal family of Kundgram/Kundalpur in Bihar. It is customary that he is considered as the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. He is one of the 24 people who attained enlightenment through penance. Tirthankaras are believed to be those who completely conquer the senses and emotions. So let's know how Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated...

Celebrate Mahavir Jayanti as follows: - On this day, worship is performed in Jain temples across the country. Shobha Yatras are also taken out at the same time. On this day, the Jain community celebrates the birth of Swami Mahavir. He gave many teachings of truth, non-violence to the world. It was he who explained the Panchsheel principles of Jainism which are as follows: Ahimsa, Satya, Aparigraha, acharya (Asteya), and celibacy.

Know the life of Lord Mahavir:- His childhood name was Vardhaman. His mother's name was Maharani Trishala and his father's name was Mahavir Maharaj Siddhartha. Mahavir Swami left all his kingdom at the age of 30 in search of enlightenment. He had left his house again and again. He performed rigorous penance for 12 years and received initiation. It was only after tapas that Lord Mahavira attained Kavalya knowledge and was called Tirthankara.
