New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni has once again entered the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Dhoni had quit the Chennai captaincy before the start of the 15th season and handed over the reins of the team to Ravindra Jadeja. However, Jadeja could not withstand the pressure of captaincy and under his captaincy, the team suffered defeats in 6 out of 8 matches.
But Dhoni has once again taken over the command of CSK. As soon as Dhoni became the captain, Chennai Express picked up the winning momentum and beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 13 runs to register their third win of the season. As soon as he took to the field as a captain in the match against SRH, Dhoni broke a unique record of Rahul Dravid. Dhoni has now become the oldest Indian player to captain a team in T20 cricket.
Dhoni once again took the reins of CSK in his hands at the age of 40 years and 298 days. Prior to Dhoni, this record was held by Rahul Dravid, who captained Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the age of 40 years and 268 days. Other Indians include Sunil Joshi (40 years, 135 days), Anil Kumble (39 years, 342 days) and Sourav Ganguly (39 years and 316 days).
