At present, Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to be in the limelight, with the BCCI totally embroiled in the confusion over his selection, the availability of captain Virat Kohli for the limited-overs format on the West Indies tour and the ban on the presence of the Board Secretary in the selection meeting. The meeting of the selection committee was adjourned on Friday. The selection committee meeting for the West Indies tour was proposed on Friday but has been postponed. The meeting is likely to be held on Sunday but no notice has been issued by the BCCI in this regard.

For your information, India has three T20s, three ODIs and two Tests on the West Indies tour starting on August 3. The meeting was adjourned on Thursday when the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) decided under the new constitution that the BCCI secretary could not participate in the selection committee meeting. The team had to be selected within a week of the end of the World Cup and Virat Kohli had to rest in the T20 and ODI series. Rohit Sharma would have been the captain of both the series, but on Thursday Kohli described himself as available for a limited-overs format series selection on the West Indies tour. He is believed to have made the decision after news of differences in the team came out. On the other hand, it is not yet known whether former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be available in the series.

One of the selectors told the BCCI that there is nothing to do with our bullying right now. When the notice of the selection committee meeting comes out, the chief selector MSK Prasad can talk to him. At present, all the selectors are in their respective cities and only when they know about the meeting will be further negotiated. On the other hand, a BCCI official said that the selectors should talk to Comey. If Dhoni proposes to play the farewell series at home, then the selector can tell the board, then the chairman or secretary will have to decide on it. So, it is certain that Dhoni will not be available for THE ODI and T20 series in the West Indies.

Another issue has become the availability of Kohli. Virat did not have to go on a tour of the West Indies earlier. The first Test series on the West Indies tour and later the ODI, T20 series were to be played, but the T20 and ODI series are being held first at the request of BCCI. The motive behind this was that after the World Cup Kohli could rest and then get off to play the Test series. That was Virat's plan earlier. Virat has described himself as available for selection after reports of a recent controversy in the team surfaced. Virat's play will ensure that Rohit Sharma will not be able to captain the series.

The fourth position for the Barabar Selection Committee of a Mathapachi is to be filled. In view of future preparations, the selectors now want to select a permanent player at this location. The selectors have options such as Karnataka's Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey and Mumbai's Shreyas Iyer who are consistently playing well on the domestic circuit. Pandey scored a century for India A against West Indies A. After Raidu's retirement and Vijay Shankar's failure, the door can open up for him. The selector can also consider the names of young Shubhman Gill and Prithvi Shaw. However Shaw is battling a hip injury. Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav are unlikely to be considered who failed the World Cup.
