Tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi was born on 7 June 1974 in Chennai. His full name is Mahesh Srinivas Bhupathi. After his initial studies in Chennai, he further studied with the University of Mississippi in America, and the 21-year-old started a tennis career from there.

Mahesh Bhupathi paired with several players in his tennis career, but the most successful partner for him was Leander Paes. In 1999, he captured the French Open and Wimbledon. Mahesh Bhupathi set a unique record of travelling to the final of the four grand slams with pace. Those who did the deed became the first pair in the men's doubles. Mahesh Bhupathi was given the Arjuna Award in 1996 for his brilliant game.

With this, on 26th March, 2001, Mahesh Bhupathi was honoured with the Padma Shri award with Leander Paes. Mahesh Bhupathi married model Shweta Jaishankar in the year 2002, but the duo lasted for just 7 years and the two got divorced. After this, the relation of Mahesh Bhupathi and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta began to be discussed, but the two had been telling their only friends one-duje ke vaaste until they got engaged. On 16th February 2011, Bhupathi married Lara Dutta in Bandra, Mumbai. The two then married with Christian customs at the Sunset Point of Goa.
