The Mahindra XUV700 is finally coming to India. From Saturday, Mahindra will begin delivering its new flagship XUV700 (October 30). Since its introduction this month, Mahindra has received over 65,000 reservations for the XUV700.

Mahindra will begin delivering the XUV700 petrol models to its clients first. By January 14 of next year, the automaker hopes to have delivered at least 14,000 XUV700s. However, the automaker has issued a caution, stating that "delivery dates may be delayed owing to the worldwide pandemic and its impact on supply chain."

Last month, Mahindra unveiled the XUV700 SUV at an initial price of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex showroom). After Mahindra got the first 25,000 bookings for the XUV700, it was updated. The beginning price has been reduced to Rs 12.49 lakh (ex showroom). The top-spec trim, the AX7 Luxury (Seven Seater) AWD, costs Rs 22.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

The first batch of Mahindra XUV700 reservations began on October 7. The automaker has received its first 25,000 reservations inside an hour. Even after revising the initial pricing, Mahindra received additional 25,000 bookings the next day within two hours.

MX, AX3, AX5, and AX7 are the four base trims offered for the Mahindra XUV700 in 2021. The SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engines, connected to either manual or automatic gearboxes, and in either a five- or seven-seat configuration.

To make the XUV700 more attractive, Mahindra has included many segment-first innovations. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), Pilot Assist, Alexa speech integration compatibility, 12-speaker Sony audio system with 3D sound, 10.25-inch dual touchscreen infotainment system, 3D maps on driver display, and more are among the features. It also gets the largest-in-segment sunroof and electronically-adjustable driver seat with memory function.

The Mahindra XUV700 has a mStallion 2.0 turbo-petrol engine under the hood. It has a peak power output of 200 horsepower and a peak torque output of 380 Nm. A 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with 182 hp of maximum power and 450 Nm of peak torque is also available.

Because the XUV700 will be available in both five and seven-seat configurations, it will compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta and Alcazar, as well as the Tata Harrier and Safari in their respective sectors.
