President of Myanmar pardons over 700 prisoners

Yugan: Myanmar President Hatin Kyab has signed an order of clemency for the release of 797 detainees on the festival of Eid ul-Fitr. It was not immediately known whether those released were political prisoners. In the statement issued by the Honorable President on the facebook in the morning yesterday, it was said that on the New Year of Myanmar, 797 prisoners will be pardoned. Hatin Qab, who is the President of Myanmar, has issued an order of release.

But the real control over the administration is of Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the National League for Democracy, who himself has been in house captivity for 15 years and now his policy is to release the prisoners. Other leaders of the National League for Democracy have also been in jail. Now after coming to power, they are also supportive of the release of prisoners.

For your information, let us tell you that even before, Myanmar President Hatin Kyab had signed a pardon for the release of 83 prisoners on 18 April 2016. It was not immediately known what the number of political prisoners among those to be released.
