Raipur: A Naxal attack has been carried out on the CRPF Road Opening Party at the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border in which 3 soldiers have been martyred. The attack on the ROP party of CRPF 19 battalion was carried out in Nuapada district of Odisha. According to sources, several soldiers were also injured in the attack. The naxals also took away 3 AK-47s from the deceased soldiers and fled from the spot.

According to the information received, around 2.30 pm on Tuesday, the CRPF team had left for Naupada district of Orissa to provide security to road construction. As soon as the rain started, the three soldiers resorted to tarpaulins under the tarpaulin. The naxals started firing indiscriminately on the jawans. The attack took place in Patadhara Reserve Forest under Boden block of Nuapada in which three soldiers were martyred. The names of the soldiers who were martyred in the same attack are ASI Shishu Pal Singh (Uttar Pradesh), ASI Shiv Lal (Haryana) and Constable Dharmendra Kumar Singh (Bihar). After the attack, the security forces retaliated against the Naxals, after which, the Maoists fled from the spot. Senior officers of SP, Nuapada and CRPF have reached the spot. Combing operations have been intensified in the area. More teams of SOG and CRPF have been pressed into service. The operation will continue till the Maoists are wiped out. In Chhattisgarh, an encounter between police and Naxals is underway in Bijapur. ASP Pankaj Shukla said that the encounter between naxals and DRG is going on in the forests of Mirtur police station area.
