Makhanlal Chaturvedi was born on 4 April 1889. He was a well-known poet, writer, and journalist of India whose compositions became very popular. He was a unique Hindi creator of simple language and passionate feelings. As the editor of prestigious papers like Prabha and Karmaveer, he campaigned vigorously against British rule and called for a new generation to break the chains of slavery and come out. For this, he had to become hostile to the British Empire many times. He was a true patriot and went to jail, taking an active part in the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1921-22. Your poems have depicted nature and love along with patriotism.

His famous works are Hima Kirtini, Him Tarangini, Yuga Charan, and Sahitya Devta, and his most famous poems are Veenu Lo Gunje, Dhara Deep Se Deep Jale, Kaisa Chhand Bana Deti hai, and Pushya Ki Abhilasha. In his memory, Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Akademi (Madhya Pradesh Cultural Council) organizes the annual 'Makhanlal Chaturvedi Samaroh' since 1987, besides the annual 'Makhanlal Chaturvedi Award for Excellence in Poetry' by an Indian poet. Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Painter Vishwa Vidyalaya in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh has been named in his honor. 

In April 1913, Khandawa's Hindi poet Kaluram Gangarade started publishing the monthly magazine 'Prabha', the responsibility of which was edited to Makhanlalji. In September 1913, he quit his job as a teacher and became completely devoted to journalism, literature, and the national movement. In the same year, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi from Kanpur started editing and publishing 'Pratap'.
