From Wednesday, the hearing started in Kuala Lumpur High Court against Rosma Mansoor, wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. She is accused of indulging in corruption while her husband is in power.

According to the media report, after Razak lost the election in the year 2018, police raided his house and recovered goods worth nearly two thousand crore rupees. Rosma is alleged to have taken a bribe to get government projects sanctioned. According to the prosecution, she took a bribe of 65 lakh ringgit (about eleven and a half crore rupees) from a company to get the tender of a solar power generator in the government schools of Borneo island.

Rosma came to a court sitting in a car and went straight inside. Her husband Najib was also present in the court during the hearing. Najib is also accused of misappropriating billions of dollars from the Malaysia Development Berhad (MDB) fund. The former Prime Minister is currently out on bail. Because of this scandal, he had to face defeat in the elections last year. Prosecutor Gopal Shri Ram said that when the scam first surfaced in 2015, he tried his best to protect himself. Shri Ram said that his team will tell how Rosma misused her power to change the report of the Auditor General on this scam before presenting it to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.
